Are you one of these people that’s always showing up and doing things for everyone else, but not taking care of yourself?
Trust me… You’re not alone. It’s easy to get caught up in the daily rat race of life and serving others that we forgot about our own self care.
This is not safe to do in early sobriety. When we are just getting sober we have to make our sobriety number one. This can't be treated like a part time job.
I spent so many years always worrying about everyone else that everything in my life started to suffer. The first time I tried to get sober I did the same thing.
It got to a point I didn’t have anything left to give. The tank was empty!
Actually, I did this multiple times. I didn't make my recovery number one - so it caused me to relapse. I'm not saying everyone will relapse, but there's a good chance you will.
Sobriety is full time. We are unpacking and peeling back years of trauma, bad behavior, poor choices, etc. that it takes everything we have to stay present and on track. Even with a strong community, it's still our own responsibly to create our healthy boundaries. Healthy boundaries lead to treating ourselves with compassion.

I get it!
Life is crazy and hectic, and when we are trying to get sober it's even crazier.
We have to make ourselves a priority, but we also have responsibilities to uphold with our families, etc.
Plus, it doesn’t help that as a society today we tend to complicate everything.
Well… what can we do to simplify our lives? Or, just make it a little more exciting. In early sobriety we feel like we are giving up everything, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

We have so much going on in early recovery that we can easily get overwhelmed. It can become frustrating because we think even though we are not drinking or using we should feel better right away. But that doesn't mean we can't do things to up our self-care routine.
Do you ever feel like no matter how well you sleep, how much you exercise or how good you’re eating you still feel sluggish and run down. I'm going to share ten easy ways to increase your energy in early recovery.
Taking care of our thoughts and our minds is just as important as taking care of our bodies in recovery. Everything in our lives is controlled by our minds. Kind of a scary thought… but true.
This includes our ability to think, and think clearly. Maintain positive thoughts and a positive outlook. Keep life in check and things into perspective. Most of all make good choices that are in alignment with our higher self and higher power.
